In this blog we share some great research and legislative news, release the report from our November conference, introduce Canadian Psychedelic Association, share an invite to an international research survey, and of course invite you to listen to the interview with Gül Dölen who talks about her brand new research that explains how MDMA-Assisted Therapy might heal broken relationships.
MDMA-Assisted Therapy FDA Approval Research Results
We’ve been waiting for this moment and the moment has arrived. Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (the organization that has been conducting international multisite FDA approval research for MDMA-Assisted Therapy) just released the results from the first of two parts of their Phase 3 (and last phase) of FDA approval research. The results are good and MDMA-Assisted Therapy is one step closer to being approved for treatment of PTSD. https://maps.org/news/bulletin/articles/479-bulletin-autumn-2020/8670-research-news-autumn-2020 … For those who want to hear more, Rick discusses these very studies and related issues in Episode #1 of Enhanced Therapy Podcast.

Introducing Canadian Psychedelic Association
Canadian Psychedelic Association intends to be a broad umbrella for the psychedelic community in Canada. CPA is a non-profit almost entirely driven by volunteer work, donations, and community input. Their goals include 1) helping connect people, projects, and ideas together to foster collaboration and growth from coast to coast, 2) having impact on the legislative side of things in Canada through policy change and advocacy campaigns for psychedelics, 3) educating Canadians on the potential benefits of psychedelics and the ethics and best practices behind their use. CPA is keen on receiving feedback, questions, ideas for content or projects, and suggestions on how to do better. https://www.psychedelicassociation.net/
Research Survey on Meditation and Psychedelics
Here’s a research survey call from our friends at University College, London, England. Do you meditate? How has your psychedelic use affected your meditation practice and vice versa? The IMPRINT (Integrating Psychedelic and Meditation Research Initiative) project will be the largest study to date exploring regular meditators’ relationship to psychedelics. You can support this research project if you have meditated at least 3 times per week during the last 12 months. You can find more details and the link to the survey on – www.ways-of-looking.com
Report from “MDMA-Assisted Therapy: Ethics and Law” conference
We have completed a report from our November 7, 2020 “MDMA-Assisted Therapy: Ethics and Law” conference, where we flag relevant issues and make several specific recommendations. We have disseminated this report widely to regulatory agencies, funding agencies, and professional regulatory bodies. Our hope is that this report might help bring professional regulatory bodies together to collaborate on the development of Specialized Ethics Guidelines for MDMA-Assisted Therapy for each participating discipline. MAPS already has such guidelines in place for their training and research, but each professional regulatory body will need to have their own process around the development of these much needed guidelines that will assure MDMA-Assisted Therapy is delivered ethical, safely, and effectively. Cross-disciplinary collaboration can help save energy and assure highest quality of the final product. https://enhancedtherapy.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/REPORT-FROM-AN-INTERNATIONAL-CONFERENCE-ON-THE-ETHICS-OF-MDMA-ASSISTED-THERAPY-.pdf
